Cozumel Cruise Port Map: Find Which Pier Your Ship Docks At

Three piers, three very different port days. Use the interactive map below to see where your cruise line docks, how far it is to town, and what is waiting at each pier.

Which pier will your ship dock at?

Cozumel has three cruise piers, and which one you get changes your whole port day - the taxi fare into town, whether you can walk to San Miguel, and what is within reach. Pick your cruise line to see where you will most likely dock, then tap a pier on the map for the details.

Pier assignments are set by the port and change from sailing to sailing, especially on busy days when four or five ships are in at once. Treat this as the most common pattern, not a guarantee - your cruise line app or port documents will list your actual pier a few days before you sail.

How far is the port from downtown Cozumel?

Two of the three piers - Puerta Maya and the International Pier - sit about three to four miles south of downtown San Miguel, right next to each other. From either one it is a flat-rate taxi ride of roughly $10 to $15 per cab into town, usually 10 to 15 minutes. The third pier, Punta Langosta, is in the middle of downtown, so if you dock there you simply walk off into the shops and restaurants.

Cozumel taxis charge per car by zone, not per person, so splitting a cab with other passengers is the cheapest way into town. There is no meter - always agree the fare before you get in.

Walk, taxi, or book an excursion?

If you docked at Punta Langosta, town is at your feet. From Puerta Maya or the International Pier you will want a taxi for anything beyond the pier own shopping village. For the reef, the beach clubs, or the ruins, a booked cruise excursion or beach club day pass that includes transport is often easier than negotiating taxis both ways - and it guarantees you are back before all-aboard. Whatever you do, build in a 20 to 30 minute buffer for the taxi line and pier security on the way back to the ship.

Cozumel cruise pier questions, answered

Which pier does my cruise ship dock at in Cozumel?

Cozumel has three cruise piers: Puerta Maya, the International Pier, and Punta Langosta. As a rule of thumb, Carnival, Princess, and Holland America usually use Puerta Maya; Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, MSC, and Norwegian usually use the International Pier; and smaller ships or overflow sailings use Punta Langosta downtown. Assignments change by date, so confirm with your cruise line a few days before you sail.

How far is Puerta Maya from downtown Cozumel?

Puerta Maya sits about 3.5 miles south of downtown San Miguel - a 10 to 15 minute taxi ride costing roughly $10 to $15 per cab. It is not a walkable distance, but the pier has its own large shopping and dining village if you would rather not go into town.

Can you walk from the Cozumel cruise port to town?

Only from Punta Langosta, which is right in downtown San Miguel. The other two piers - Puerta Maya and the International Pier - are about three miles south, so you will need a short taxi (around $10 to $15 per cab) to reach town.

How much is a taxi from the Cozumel cruise port?

A taxi from Puerta Maya or the International Pier into downtown San Miguel runs roughly $10 to $15 per cab, not per person. Cozumel taxis are priced by zone rather than by meter, so agree the fare with the driver before you get in, and split the ride to save money.

Does Carnival dock at Puerta Maya or the International Pier?

Carnival ships almost always dock at Puerta Maya, which is operated as Carnival Corporation home terminal in Cozumel. On very busy days a Carnival ship can occasionally be assigned elsewhere, so check your cruise app for the confirmed pier before you sail.

Which pier does Royal Caribbean use in Cozumel?

Royal Caribbean ships usually dock at the International Pier (also called the SSA pier), about three miles south of downtown. Celebrity, MSC, and Norwegian typically use the same pier. It is a short, cheap taxi ride into San Miguel from there.

Do cruise ships tender in Cozumel?

Rarely. All three Cozumel piers are docking piers, so you almost always walk straight off the ship. Tendering only happens in the unusual case that every berth is full or weather forces a ship to anchor.

Know your pier, own your port day

Once you know where you will dock, the rest is easy: pick an excursion or beach club near your pier and build in a buffer for the ride back.
